How Gita Lessons Improve Decision-Making in Children

The Bhagavad Gita is a Hindu scripture of 700 verses which is a guide for spiritual and practicality for human beings. It is translated as “The Song of God”. It is the conversation between Lord Krishna and Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra.

It is mainly about five main subjects:

God - Ishvara

The soul - Jiva

Time - Kala

Action - Karma

Nature - Prakriti

Though it is a conversation on the battlefield, it relates to the internal battles faced by humans in everyday life. For example, the struggle between right and wrong, fear and duty. It teaches everyone how to act with clarity and make right decisions with resilience.

Teaching children about Bhagavad Gita is essential in today’s era as it imbibes great values in them. These values help the kids to make great decisions, act with integrity and achieve their goals efficiently.

How Gita lessons improve a child’s decision-making process:

1. Focus on the effort

While decision making kids are scared of the outcome i.e. the result. They fear failure as well. The Gita teaches the kids to have control over their actions and not worry about the end result.

The Lesson: "Do your best and don't obsess over the prize."

The Impact: This reduces "outcome anxiety."  When the kid is not thinking about losing, they concentrate more on making bolder and honest decisions in their school life.

2. Develop the “Inner Observer”

Children often act impulsively and react to their emotions quickly. The Gita helps them to overcome the anger, greed, peer pressure and strengthen and guide their mind.

The Lesson: Stop, breathe, and look at the situation like an outsider.

The Impact: It builds emotional intelligence. The kids pause and think twice before following the bad crowd weighing the choices.

3. Choosing right over easy

The Gita always teaches the concept of Dharma, which means to choose the right path even if it is full of difficulties.

The Lesson: Identify your duty in every role

The Impact: This gives the kid courage to choose the truth over lie with confidence.

4. Stability in success and failure

The Gita teaches the kids to be even minded in joy and sorrow both. They learn to balance their emotions.

The Lesson - Not to be too excited when you win or not to feel bad when you lose.

The Impact - This builds resilience in the kid. The kid who can balance their emotions can make better decisions in life.

5. Clarity or Confusion

The Gita gives clarity and confidence to the kids through the important teachings with examples. They are less confused and can achieve success easily by making the right decisions.

The Lesson - Teaching them values gives them clarity and eases the journey for them.

The Impact - Through Gita teachings, kids develop moral values. When they face difficult situations in their lives, these values help them to judge the situation and move to the right path by taking the right way.

Conclusion

Gita teachings are the path finder for everyone, giving them clarity and confidence to move ahead in life.
