Hi! Readers. Today my blog is about public speaking classes for kids. Let's first understand what is public speaking. Does it mean to speak on stage only? It is one of the factors but not the only one. Public speaking refers to speaking in front of an audience that could be on stage or off stage. When you are on stage and speak on any topic in front of an audience is public speaking and when you address a group of people in a gathering and cater your thoughts you are speaking publicly, so that is also public speaking. The former is formal public speaking whereas the latter is informal public speaking.
Generally, we try to judge our or maybe someone else’s kids on the grounds of parents’ request performance. You must have heard this term first time, Parents request performance. Usually, I say it as parents compel performance, in which parents in any gathering demonstrate their kids by saying, narrate the story to your Uncle, tell the rhyme to Aunty. Nothing bad with it but if they say NO respect that too and don’t force them. And never judge their public speaking skills on this ground.
Rather try to understand some kids are extroverts, confident with communicating their thoughts in front of anyone. Some kids are introverted and have speaking anxiety. That gives birth to a few questions. Firstly, whether my child is introvert or extrovert?
Now, the Second question that pops up is, should only introverted kids enrol for public speaking classes? Below is the answer for same.
No, not at all. It's equally beneficial for extrovert kids. The difference could be introverted kids might need more hand-holding and guidance whereas extroverted kids can learn advanced-level things.
Everyone can and should enrol for public speaking classes once in life. One who has speaking anxiety can start at a basic level whereas one who is confident with communicating can start at an advanced level.
Nowadays all online classes offer a free demo class for kids. You as a parent have a great opportunity to choose the right one.
Firstly, evaluate the faculty. They should be expert in their field. Have ample knowledge of the same. And can handle kids in every situation.
Secondly, you can look for a curriculum. That should be age-appropriate. It helps in expanding the knowledge of your kid. And more speaking opportunities are given to the kids.
Thirdly, you can go through the reviews of the company. How helpful the company is. How is their relationship with their customers before enrolling and also after enrolling?

Ans. Read with your kids where you both share your views on that. Start sharing about your day, and your friends with your kids.
Ans. Ask the school to give your child a task for helping the teacher, or any kid. It could take the notebooks to the staffroom, and help the absent child with yesterday’s work. It will help build the confidence of your child that the teacher has faith in him. It will also make him more attentive.
Ans. Please remember that public speaking classes are not magic. Each kid has their capabilities. Some can show a change in them within a week and some not even after a month. Your consistency and practice matter a lot.
