Role-play plays an important role in enhancing the English-speaking skills in the kids in their early childhood days. 2. Fairy Tale Courtroom - kids can take the roles of judge and lawyers and witnesses. Helps to focus on Persuasion, questioning, defending opinions, formal language.
3. Space Travel - Kids can perform as astronauts on mission to different planets where they imagine and describe what they see in space. Helps to focus on Adjectives, futuristic vocabulary, problem-solving language.
How to start
Assign the roles – Assign them the role and swap the role once they finish with the previous role.
Props usage - Encourage kids to use props as using them makes the activity more interesting for kids.
Script - Provide them with the script in initial stages and then encourage them to make up their own scripts as they proceed.
Tips for Parents
1. Focus on the fluency of the kids. Do not interrupt them while speaking as that breaks the flow. Correct them later.
2. Let them start with easy role play scenarios and once they get comfortable with those, challenge them to handle advanced situations.
3. Record the performance of the kids. When the kids watch their own self performing, they tend to improve more.
4. Keep the sessions short and engaging so that it's not monotonous for them.
5. Try to participate with them. It boosts their confidence.
