The teacher I have written the essay about was my geography teacher.

My Favourite Teacher Essay: Inspiring Stories for Students

Teachers, after the parents are the most important persons in a kid’s life. They play a pivotal role in shaping the lives of their students.  A good teacher can guide a student on the path of success with assurance of a content life. Among all the teachers who have guided me till date, my favourite teacher is Mr. Devendra Tiwari, who was my Geography teacher in grade 8. A great teacher is like a candle—it consumes itself to light the way for others. For me, that light is Devendra Sir, who has transformed my outlook on learning and life.He truly stands out for his dedication and unique teaching style.

(This paragraph is the introduction part of the essay.)

His qualities that inspired me

There are many qualities in him that have always caught my eyes and have made me strive to imbibe those characters in my personality too. The first and foremost is his and has an exceptional way of explaining even the most complex topics with ease.

I was never interested in places, maps and geography before grade 8. The way he taught us Geography, was like he was narrating a story, that too a very interesting one, in front of our eyes with his words and some strokes on the blackboard. That was not an era of smartboard or projectors or virtual aids. He had to depend upon the simple and basic methods of blackboard and chalk teaching, with a little aid of some colourful charts and few models. This makes me wonder, if he gets to teach now in a smart classroom, and I get to study from him again, what new and marvellous ways will I encounter.  Oh, how I wish there was a time travelling machine!

He used to draw maps of India, my state Uttar Pradesh and  world even with his hands on the blackboard to show different features  or locations, and  the agility and fluency of  his fingers on the board always amazed me. He insisted that instead of buying the maps from markets we should also learn to draw these maps, and this small thing made us all lean these maps by heart. I, even after so many years can draw those maps with negligible errors. This is the beauty of self-practice and again proves that practice makes a man perfect. This virtue imbibed in us by Devendra sir, to practice and improve ourselves has proved useful in other fields of life too as it has subconsciously become a part of our character.

His contagious enthusiasm and kind and approachable nature made every student feel valued. We could easily and ask about any doubts and problems with them and could expect a solution and constant support all the time, and this support was never limited to Geography alone. His punctuality and discipline also inspired me a lot. I am still trying to fill his shoes in punctuality, but I hope I have made him proud in other fields.

Inspiring Stories and Life Lessons

I can mention many inspiring stories about Devendra Sir. One of the most inspiring things about him was his ability to see potential in everyone and helping students beyond the scope of his subject even. Once, Devendra sir encouraged a classmate who struggled with public speaking to participate in a storytelling competition. His encouragement and extra hours given to analyse and improve the classmate’s performance worked wonders, and to everyone’s surprise, he won! This taught me the power of patience and belief.

Devendra sir while teaching also used to share motivational stories about famous personalities, and how they overcame challenges. It reminded us that failure is a stepping stone to success. This belief became  a part of my core values and have helped me a number of times . When I was just about to quit something, this instance made me try once more with more conviction. All these things not only boosted my confidence but also made learning a joyful experience.

Devendra Sir’s guidance extended beyond academics. His behaviour taught me the importance of honesty, hard work, and kindness and motivated me to be the best version of myself.

(This is the body part of the sample essay.)

Conclusion

So, it is undeniably true that a great teacher doesn’t just teach subjects; instead, he inspires students to excel in life. A great teacher motivates his students to dream big and work hard. Devendra sir has been a role model for me and I will always be grateful for the lessons she has imparted to me.
